Japengo Maui Review: Good Sushi, Resort Pricing — $261.90 for Two
Japengo review from a paid dinner at the Hyatt Regency Maui: Pacific-rim sushi, an ocean-facing bar, and the bill that shows resort pricing most.

- Good, once. The quality carries it; the price is where resort dining shows most.
Japengo is the Hyatt Regency Maui's Pacific-rim sushi restaurant with an ocean-facing bar. It was our sushi night, and it's the meal where the resort premium was most visible on the check.
What was good
The fish and the room. Sit at the bar if you can — the ocean is the point of the view and the bar has it.
What the number says
$261.90 for two is more than the steakhouse next door charged us for the occasion dinner, and it's the gap versus off-property sushi that stands out. The quality carried it. The pricing is the resort's, not the kitchen's.
Who it's for
One night, when you don't want to leave the property and you want sushi done properly. If you're on a longer stay and comparing against town, the drive is worth pricing.
Verdict
Good, once. The whole week's dining with every receipt is in Hyatt Regency Maui dining, honestly.
