Verdict
Best-kept non-secret in resort golf — if you want sunset holes, not a full 18.

Kaʻanapali Kai is the resort course five minutes from the Hyatt, and its twilight rate — $69 with cart — is the number that gets it on every "cheap Maui golf" list. We played it. The honest receipt is bigger and the honest verdict is still yes.

What twilight actually sells you

That gap is the twilight discount. If you need a full 18 on the card, twilight is the wrong product. If you want two hours of oceanside golf at sunset for a tenth of what Kapalua Plantation lists ($475 + tax per player, twenty minutes away), it's the best-kept non-secret in resort golf.

The course

6,400 yards, par 70, a Robin Nelson redesign built around strategy over raw distance (per the course's own page). A fun, forgiving vacation round — the right product for a 5 PM start with a drink at the turn, not a championship gauntlet.

The quiet multiplier

Club rentals. They took our "$69 × 2" estimate to $321.78. Traveling without clubs? Price rentals into every course comparison first — they narrow the gap between "cheap" and "premium" rounds more than people expect.

Verdict

Yes, on purpose: book it for the sunset holes, price the rentals, and don't expect 18. The full comparison against Plantation is in Maui golf arbitrage.
