What a Costco Travel Perk Stack Is Actually Worth
We priced every perk in a real Costco Travel Maui package: about $700. Here's the math, the parking asterisk, and the trap the number protects you from.
Everyone knows Costco Travel packages are "a good deal." Almost nobody prices the perks — which means almost nobody can tell when to keep the package and when to walk.
We did the math on a real four-night Hyatt Regency Maui package this August.
The stack, itemized
The "Paradise Promotion" bundled: daily buffet breakfast for two, a $150 resort credit, waived resort fees, and lūʻau/cabana discounts.
The breakfast number is the menu price we'd have paid — with package coverage, only the tips hit the folio.
The asterisk: parking
Parking is not included. Valet at this property ran $55/night — $220 across the stay, straight onto the folio. Price it in before you compare packages to direct rates.
What the $700 is actually for
Here's the trap the math protects you from. Mid-trip, you'll spot a better room rate, or want an upgrade the hotel can't apply to a package booking (that's structural), and you'll be tempted to cancel and rebook direct.
Do that and the whole perk stack evaporates. If you never priced it, you'll trade $700 of real value for a $200 room-rate win and feel clever doing it.
The honest comparison checklist
Price the package total against direct including resort fees + breakfast + parking; count only credits you'll genuinely use; and check what you're not earning — packages usually mean no hotel points and no elite credit (the full hidden-cost breakdown). A cheaper package can still lose, and a pricier one can still win. You only know if you run the stack.
